Who Qualifies for A&A Pension Benefits:

- Veteran and Surviving Spouse:
- The spouse must have been married to the veteran when the veteran passed away.
- The surviving spouse must not have remarried.
- Veteran and Spouse where:
- The veteran needs care.
- Or, the spouse needs care.
- Two Married Veterans:
- Both veterans can apply for benefits if they meet the eligibility criteria.

Basic Eligibility Requirements:
- Service Requirement:
– You must have served at least 90 consecutive days of active duty. - Service During War Time
– You must have served at least one day during: World War II: December 7, 1941, to December 31, 1946 Korean War: June 27, 1950, to January 31, 1955 Vietnam War: August 5, 1964, to May 7, 1975 for general service, or February 28, 1961, to May 7, 1975 if you served “in-country” in Vietnam. - Discharge Status:
– Your discharge must be other than dishonorable. - Need for Aid or Attendance:
– You need help with at least two activities of daily living (like bathing, dressing, eating). - Income Test:
– Your monthly income must be less than your unreimbursed medical expenses. This includes costs for home healthcare, assisted living, nursing home care, and medical insurance premiums. - Asset Limits:
– There’s no strict asset limit, but your eligibility is determined case by case. It’s important to check your benefits regardless of your asset amount.
