Small on purpose, and run by the people who answer the phone. Karmisha Miller-Wallace started Exceptional Touch in Jackson in 2017. She and her husband Prentiss still run it themselves. This page is who we are, how we hire, and what we promise your family.
Exceptional Touch is a small, family-run, non-medical home care agency in Jackson, Mississippi. Karmisha Miller-Wallace and her husband, Prentiss, own it and run it. Most of the families we serve are caring for a parent with dementia, and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
Why we started
Why Karmisha started Exceptional Touch.
She and Prentiss run the agency themselves, from an office downtown on West Amite Street. We have stayed small on purpose.
Karmisha also works as a dementia consultant, and dementia care is the heart of what we do.
Our motto: Exceptional Care, Exceptional People, Period.
In Karmisha's words: caring for your loved ones is not our job, it's our passion.
Born from a desire to see elderly and disabled persons receive a high quality level of care from highly qualified, trained and most of all, compassionate Caregivers.
Our caregivers
Background-checked and trained in dementia care.
Every caregiver who works for Exceptional Touch is background-checked before they walk into a client's home. We hire caregivers, sitters and CNAs. If you are thinking about working with us, the careers page explains what the work is and how to apply.
Because most of our families are living with Alzheimer's or another dementia, our caregivers get training and continuing education in Alzheimer's and dementia care. We also support adults with intellectual disabilities, and the same rules apply. Matched caregivers. Patient people. A check-in every week.
Who we serve
Private pay and long-term care insurance. Not Medicaid.
We would rather say this now. Families pay us privately or through a long-term care insurance policy. We do not bill Medicaid or Medicare. If your parent needs a Medicaid provider, call anyway and we will point you to one.
We are a non-medical agency. We help with bathing, dressing, meals, light housekeeping, rides, companionship and medication reminders, and we keep a watchful eye on someone who should not be alone. We do not provide nursing. When a family needs more than we can do, we say so and help them find it.
Veterans and surviving spouses: VA Aid and Attendance may help pay for care at home. We are not a VA provider and we do not file claims, but we will tell you what we know. See who qualifies for Aid and Attendance.
