Personal care is the hands-on part of home care: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and standing and walking with a steady arm. Exceptional Touch provides it around Jackson as non-medical care, with medication reminders only.

01What it covers

What does personal care at home include?

It is the help a parent hates to ask their children for. A caregiver makes it ordinary again. Personal care covers:

  • Bathing and showering, with a hand where needed and privacy where not
  • Dressing, from choosing the outfit to the last button
  • Grooming: hair, shaving, teeth, nails, lotion
  • Toileting help, handled matter-of-factly
  • Standing and walking with a steady arm
  • Medication reminders (reminders only, not administration)

02Dignity

How do we protect your parent's dignity?

A caregiver matched to your father, who learns his preferences: the time of day, the water temperature, the shirt he always picks. Nothing hurried. The door closed.

We ask before we help, say what we are doing, and let him do the parts he still can. Our dementia-trained caregivers bring the same patience to a mother who no longer remembers why the shower frightens her.

03When families call

After a fall. After the hospital. When it is too much.

After a fall, when the shower has become frightening. After a hospital stay, when getting dressed takes an hour. When a husband in Pearl cannot manage on his own anymore, or a daughter in Ridgeland realizes her mother has stopped bathing. None of these calls are too small.

Personal care pairs naturally with a hot meal, fresh linens or a ride to the doctor in the same visit.

How families pay for care

Veterans and surviving spouses: see whether VA Aid and Attendance may help pay.

Can a caregiver help my mother bathe if she has dementia?

Yes. Our caregivers are trained in Alzheimer's and dementia care, and bathing is where it shows most: a caregiver matched to her, the same routine, no rushing.

Can you help my father get up and walk safely?

Yes, within non-medical care: a steady arm and a safe way of doing it. If he has to be lifted, tell us on the call and we will be honest.

Do you give medication?

No. Medication support is reminders only, not administration. We remind at the right time and tell you if a dose was missed.

How much does personal care at home cost?

The 2025 CareScout Cost of Care Survey puts Mississippi's median rate for a non-medical caregiver at $24 an hour. We quote your rate on the free in-home visit, after we know the hours and the care.
