Quick answer

Do you serve Ridgeland, MS?

Yes. Exceptional Touch, a family-run home care agency in downtown Jackson, serves Ridgeland, MS. It is in Madison County, just up North State Street, about 15 minutes from our office downtown. The care is non-medical: dementia and Alzheimer's care, personal care, companionship, meals, light housekeeping, rides, respite and 24-hour care. Families pay privately or with long-term care insurance; Medicaid and Medicare are not something we can bill.

The town itself

What we know about Ridgeland.

Ridgeland is the town between Jackson and Madison, with the Ross Barnett Reservoir along its east side and the Natchez Trace Parkway running through it. About 24,000 people lived here at the 2020 Census, and Census Bureau estimates put roughly one in seven at 65 or older. It has more apartments than the towns around it, many near County Line Road and I-55, alongside established subdivisions like Dinsmor, Lake Harbour and Trace Ridge.

There is no emergency room inside Ridgeland. St. Dominic on Lakeland Drive in Jackson is about 10 minutes away, and UMMC in Jackson about 15. If your father has stopped driving, a caregiver makes that trip with him.

The city's Senior Adult Program (opens in new tab) meets at the Ridgeland Recreational Center in Old Trace Park, on the Reservoir, for adults over 50; the city says it brings in an average of 100 senior adults every weekday. A caregiver can drive your father there and back. A pharmacy run or an afternoon at Northpark fits inside a shift, and the Reservoir Overlook is a quiet spot for a slow walk.

Straight answers

Questions about Ridgeland, answered.

Apartments, distance and Medicaid, answered plainly.

How far is Ridgeland from your office?

About 11 miles. We take North State Street north until it becomes Highway 51, or I-55 to County Line Road, about 15 minutes either way. The drive is part of the schedule, not something your father waits on.

My father lives in an apartment near County Line Road. Is that a problem?

No. Ridgeland has more apartments than the towns around it, and we come to an apartment or condo as we would to a house. Tell us the complex when you call so we can plan parking and the door.

Is there help in Ridgeland if we cannot pay privately?

Not from us: we take private pay and long-term care insurance only. If your father is on Medicaid, the Elderly and Disabled Waiver through Mississippi Medicaid and the CMPDD Area Agency on Aging in Pearl are the right places to start.

What does home care cost in Ridgeland?

We quote after the free visit at your parent's home in Ridgeland, once we know the days and the hours.
